Sewing too?!
Here's a photo of the 1st sundress I made! It's far from perfect, but definitely wearable!
More pics are on my blog.
Another lace project completed

I've been trying to clear up some of my WIPs in anticipation of MS3, which begins tomorrow. With that in mind, I finished working on and blocked my Seraphim Shawl last night. I know that some people don't think variegated yarns work well with lace, but I think this is one case where that is not true. The very subtly colored yarn worked wonderfully with the design, and I love the result.

Pattern: Seraphim by Miriam Felton
Yarn: Knitpicks Bare Laceweight, dyed by moi
Size: 79.5in wide by 38 in deep
Needles: 3.75mm Knitpicks Options needles
So that's three shawls completed this month. I think that I will be frogging the last shawl that I have OTN, as I'm finding the pattern not interesting enough. Slogging through all the stockinette on this one was a beast. The shaped triangle shawl is not stockinette, but it is a four-stitch repeat for approx 110 rows, and that is totally not interesting to me right now.
I'm amazed that I've managed to avoid buying any yarn this summer. I even had what I needed for MS3 on hand. I DO go and look though. I just manage to navigate away from the page before temptation gets to me.
Ta for now.

Tinking vs Ripping
A little ripping out trick I use, take your yarn needle and a contrasting yarn and go back to your last "good" row of knitting. Run the needle and yarn through the stiches of that row. Either run it through the first leg of the stitch or the second leg of the stitch - but be consistent.
V<-- or -->V
After all of your good stitches are picked up let it rip; pull out all of the bad stitches. When you get back to the good row, place the stitches back on your needles and remove the contrasting yarn. Take a deep breath and knit on.
I have done a lot tinking and ripping, if anyone has any tips on tinking please let me know.

Opal Hundertwasser yarn sock
Well I had already been working on this sock before the KAL was started but I'm posting this anyway. I'm making out of Opal yarn from their Hundertwasser collection. You can check it out, along with other yummy yarns at Ariadne knits (their knit pals of mine so I never miss a chance to plug them). I just started the second one. That's all.

Knitting Needle Sets
I am interested in purchasing a circular knitting needle set. I have looked at Knitpicks Options Knitting Needle Set and Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles. Do you have any preference over the other and why.

Pattern: Cookie A. Monkey
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Devon
Needles: Clover / US #1 (3.25mm / US #2 to cast on)
Mods/Details:
- Sl1, K1 Heel flap
- Picot Edge
- I knit 5 repeats for the leg and 6 repeats for the foot
- Thoughts on the yarn: I love this yarn, first because it washable. Second, the weight of it is just right to wear with anything (sneakers, boots or shoes). This now my favorite sock yarn.

Intros
I'm Susan aka Knitters-Delight. I've been in a fair amount of KALs this year (2007 was my initiation into the online knitting world). Adrienne and I have been in a number of the same KALs, so I was excited to see that she's started this one. I'm a recent transplant to San Diego from the East Coast and enjoying knitting warmer weather items.
Feel free to check out my blog of knits and sometimes quilts.

Finished My Shetland Triangle

I've finished another of my shawls for the 2007 Summer Stash Out! Feelin' good about my progress, too.
Although this is more of a shawlette, it's definitely appropriate for a July wedding. Plus, since we're in the military, they will be having a wedding here in Europe and then again in the States. This will work as a little shawl for this one and a scarf as she gets ready for her April wedding in California. If you knew my friend Kat, you'd understand the color selection too. She is absolutely in love with pink. In fact, the shawl matched her outfit because you can invariably find her wearing pink most days of the week. Plus, she really wanted something she could wear over her hip, and this little thing will do the job well.
Stats:
Pattern: Shetland Triangle Shawl from Wrap Style
Designer: Evelyn A. Clark
Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Coral (from Sarah's Yarns)
Needles: 3.75mm Addi Lace Needles (love, love, love them)
Dimensions: 42" x 20"
Next time, I may use fingering weight yarn and do more repeats. This is a light and delicate looking piece of lace. It was suggested as the only thing she wear on her wedding night, which I got a big hug for from her fiance. HE thought it was a great idea, of course!

I'm here to confess that I have the knack for tangling yarn. With out a swift, I'm quite dangerous. I've tried almost everything, including using the back of a chair, two chairs, little humans, but the tangles always win. Any advice for dream crusher like me? I know I just have to untangle this ball the hard way, but I'm ready to stop the madness. See this yarns intended purpose at www.yarnfettish.blogspot.com.

Hello Ladies...
Thursday, June 7, 2007
I'm here because the art of crafting ones vision with a piece of string is so very empowering to me. Whenever I'm working on a project, my kids ask, "Is that for me?", because they know that know that wearing a finished garment is in some way like walking around wearing my love. I've been crocheting for about 15 years and learned to knit about one year ago. I'm trying to pick up spinning and yarn dyeing as well so I'm very excited. I'm so into this that I haven't had any lulls in my hobby for almost 2 1/2 years now. I'm glad to be here and hope to learn a lot from you all.
Love, Nicole
So happy to be here!
I started crocheting about 14 years ago when I had to learn for a high school play that I was in. I didn't pick up a crochet hook again until this January. Since then I have made a bunch of these simple crocheted scarves from the Stitch n' Bitch Happy Hooker book.
I have been knitting for about two and a half years and I am just now getting past the knit squares (blankets) and rectangles (scarves) stage. I am thinking about joining Adrienne's Summertime tunic knit along - that would be a really ambitious project for me.
I'm really happy that this group exists and that I am a part of it!

Hi Ladies...
I'm hoping that through hard work and practice I can make clothing and accessories that are a reflection of me. If my creative juices really get to flowing I may dust off the sewing machine that I bought three or four years ago that still hasn't been used (horrible I know). I'm looking forward to ogling all of your creations and sharing information and new finds.

Hello All
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be a member of Ebony Elite. My name is Sheila a 40+ New Yorker who loves to craft . I have been freestyle crocheting on and off for 18 years, also enjoy decorating, sewing (which focused mainly on curtains, duvets and pillows) and recently trying to dabble in garments. Always needing to keep busy, I have now added another craft learning to knit. I’m really getting my knit practice on so I can become a true Knit Diva and also looking to incorporate knit with crochet to create some funky CroNit. Last but not least, I’m looking forward to meeting all of you, learning, having fun and sharing. Feel Free to visit Sheilaz Crochetz.
