a couple of shirts

ok, I joined a while ago and I've just been lurking, looking at all the wonderful things you guys make and I have to admit, feeling a little intimidated by your knitting skills. I'm knitting my first hat right now, but for some reason today I really felt the need to participate, so I'm gonna sho you all a couple of pics of shirts that I crocheted. (crocheting is my main craft. Knitting is still new for me. I think I've taken this darn hat apart at least 6 times. I swear i'm gonna finish it if it kills me and even if it looks like crud I'm gonna wear it. :) ) I hope it's ok to post pics of things that are not knitted. In the mean time, hears the only 2 shirts I've ever made with yarn....

Feminine "Mini" Puff-Sleeve Cardigan

I shrunk this pattern down to a girl's size 5/6 by using size 0, 2, and 2.5 needles, the smallest size instructions, and Cherry Tree Hill Supersock (a magnificent merino). I'll post another picture when she's ready to try it on again and I get some buttons. It's my fault she's already sick of it, I've tried it on her so many times. I loved knitting this.

Finished My 1st Shawl

I finished my first shawl. It was the perfect first shawl project. The Forest Canopy Shawl by Susan Lawrence in Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock Puck's Mischief colorway, lightweight 450 yards. I finished it up on my KP Harmony needles which made the last dozen repeats fly. I will definitely make this pattern again. It is not as difficult to block a lace shawl as I thought it was going to be. I will be sporting this baby at the CGOA/TKGA Knit and Crochet Show Banquet/Fashion Show Saturday night.

This is what I did

Since it was not enough to make a jumbo Fat bottom bag I turned it into a morphed buttonhole bag with moss stich to boot. it should match the shoes as well. Another bag atop of "the need a lining pile". It needs some embellishing. Maybe a big flower.

Remember This Yarn Storage...

I posted about this in July. I saw it today in target. In the home organization aisle, and yes, as confirmed in the comments, It is for shoe storage. They have one with 15 compartments (30.00) and the one with 25 that was pictured. I don't know the price on that one.

I saw it today and wanted to let you know. Once again, this would be perfect for my yarns

Talk to you later!

Minor celeb

My Lucy scarf has been linked on both Craftzine and Not Martha! I had a few comments today on that post and at first I thought the posters were coming from Craftster. I also had a question sent to my email address so I decided to google "Lucy scarf" to see who else mentioned it and I found the link on Craftzine. They even put up my barely smiling face on there. Then I went on Statcounter where I keep track of my visitors, saw a massive jump on my numbers that I assumed was due to that mention but when I clicked on "came from" the first thing on the list was Not Martha. I'm used to see a little spike in my number of visitors when I post on Craftster but nothing like this. Happy dance.

Ok

So i had to scrap the jumbo fat bottom bag (ran out of yarn) but the desire is still there to do one. I made this instead.

the dowels need to be stained and the beads attached to the ends and lined and what not but it is alomost done. It took about a day to make. and what do think of those shoes button cute! (you know cute as a button)

50 Plus

I had been working on a small charity drive for a Chinese orphanage. My best buddy at work has adopted 2 little girls from China and later become President of the board for the Organization that arranges the adoptions. When he learned of my interest in charity knitting I offered to make a couple of things. This is my second year and I was able to meet my goal of gathering at least fifty items to send along to China.
Here are some pictures, my Baby surprise Jackets :

A bunch of Donated hats:

and me ..

The whole story here.

Any further thoughts on the Katrina Knitting ? I would love to make some items for that. Judy
