6 Row Cables

Hi Sheila,

You need to knit four or six rows between each cable row. This is an example of six rows between each cable row. I tried to explain in comments, but I find it difficult to describe knitting steps without a lot of words and space :D

Crochet ... i hate thee

ok i'm trying to teach myself to crochet... its not going so well. i think the crochet hook dislikes me. or i just do it to tight. but i realize now why i hate picking up stitches. and now i'm mad that crochet feels like i'm picking up stitches... what to do!!!

Cables....Help!!!

Ok, I purchased a dvd on knitting cables, but became lost in the sauce b/c the instructor shows just one row of it. I have referred to online tutorials and sign-off feeling DUH!!!. Maybe its me. Ok. the cable I'm trying to do is a 6-st RC and 6-st LC.

6-sts RC - Slip 3 sts to cn and hold to back, k3, k3 from cn;

6-sts RC - Slip 3 sts to cn and hold to front, k3, k3 from cn;

my question is do I cable every other row or every row.

Thanks.

NC Ebony Elite Meet Up - Labor Day Weekend (Saturday Sept 1st)

~ I posted this in our yahoo e-group & Ravelry ~

Hey E.E. Ladies!!

I have noticed quite a few of us in our group that is in North Carolina in the Raleigh/Greensboro/Charlotte area.

And thought it would be great to try and do a "NC Meet-Up" with the Ebony Elite sistahs!! :oD

Ever since I visited Raleigh last weekend and drove thru Greensboro wishing I had more time to stop there to check out their LYS I have been wanting to go back.

How about a meet-up there at one of their local yarn shops and possibly hop around from yarn shop to yarn shop! (from my understanding there are 3 of them - from Ms. Toni a.k.a. ttdcreations)

So enough of the talking WHO can meet up NEXT Saturday, September 1st in Greensboro?? :o)

Lacy Little Number

Just wanted to drop in on the group and show what I've been up to. This will probably be my only summer knit this year, but what a way to go out! So far I'm loving this project and I'm almost done with the second piece. Just trying to think of a suitable edging for the top portion. (wheels turning)

But then again, we already knew this!

I think this applies to all crafts. Knitting and crochet has definately helped me destress and get through some of the most challenging times in my life. In fact, I have done the most knitting and crocheting that I have ever done in the last 2 years, the most stressfull 2 years that I have experienced. So, this article rings very true for me.

Benefits of Knitting and Crochet.

i just designed my first afghan square!

This is a "Block O" which is The Ohio State University's logo (I work there). I've been itching to design this for quite some time, but just now got around to doing it. In a moment of high procrastination, I took time to chart the design and crochet it :-) I am going to make a bunch of these squares in scarlet and gray, and then stitch them together into an afghan. I plan to keep the first one for myself, and then make others to sell and/or donate. I am SOOO excited about this and I just had to share with y'all!

Too Hot for Work?

Well, it's too late now. Don't worry, I wore a jacket all day because of the chilly AC, so it was only about half as sizzling as it really is.

Also, my first lace shawl.

Ballet Tee (Modified)

Ballet T by Loop-d-loop is complete. Its a versatile piece and makes a perfect addition to my wardrobe. I love the clean lines and simple shaping and perfect for a novice knitter. I'm looking to do another one or two in a camisole and/or long sleeve version. I must admit I was unable to grasp the top-down method and opted to work the pattern bottom-up with modifications, such as crocheting the sleeves & bottom band in the terracotta yarn that I had left over from making a knitting bag. End result... totally love it. Thanks Adrienne

Clapotis and Spa Set

Pattern: Knitty's Clapotis
Yarn Used: Lorna Lace Lions & Lamb (4 skeins)

Pattern: Spa Set: Large Washcloth, Eyemask & Soapbag (can't remember the magazine, will upload later on my blog.
Yarn: Rowan DK Handknit 100% Cotton
Color: Bright as Hell Orange (Spoilee liked orange and I didn't want to do normal white or beige)

Will I knit these two again?
Clapotis - definitely, it is my 3rd one and it is easy, as long as you can yo, ktbl, ssk and drop a stitch. I didn't know how to do any of this until I knit the first one and I did that one in a week and a half.
Spa Set - my first for all knit pieces, washcloth and knitting an i-cord. I think I will definitely do the washcloth and the soapbag and maybe the booties (I didn't knit that yet).

Until the next time I have a FO (3 years from now)!!

Zimmerman Baby Cardigan

I just finished the hat to go with this sweet little cardigan. It is in the Knitter's Almanac or in a Vogue from the early 90's. The hat I am proud to say I designed myself. Judy
