Vintage Crochet

Hey All!

I added a new old technique tutorial to my blog for those who are interested. It is an old crochet technique called broomstick lace. Many of you crocheters may already use this technique, but I had forgotten all about until my attendance at Stitches West where the ladies at Diva Stitch Studios refreshed my memory. Broomstick lace involves using both a crochet hook and a knitting needle or dowel or broomstick (hence the name), basically a round stick of any material. I am currently working on a jacket using broomstick lace and crochet ribbing.

Crochet Hat and Scarf Set

I sent this crocheted hat and scarf set off to Patricia in November (after the deadline) to help the working homeless of New Orleans.  The scarf started off as an Afghan for Afghans, but I missed that deadline too.  I ripped out a row or two, added a scalloped edge (recommended by Stacey) and crocheted a simple hat to go along with it.

Hi Ladies...

Thank you so much for welcoming me to the group! I am brand new to the worlds of crocheting and knitting. I'm actually still trying to decide whether I want to attempt crocheting or knitting first. My blog, Napptural Knits is still under construction. I plan on tackling my first project this weekend so I have to get it up and running so that I can tell you all how it goes.

I'm hoping that through hard work and practice I can make clothing and accessories that are a reflection of me. If my creative juices really get to flowing I may dust off the sewing machine that I bought three or four years ago that still hasn't been used (horrible I know). I'm looking forward to ogling all of your creations and sharing information and new finds.
